This was the first of my 10 yen etchings though it is mostly an engraving. Japanese 10 yen coins are made from copper, and larger than most American coins. I find that if put on a local train track they roll out just about the right thickness to make a tiny etcing plate, but of course that is illeagle, and I would never do it.
You may notice that Icarus and the black ships are going in different directions, from 2012
A street jizo in Yanaka from the time that Fuji last exploded. Red Plum was her death name. You can read it on the stone. Most of the street jizos here were origionally childrens graves, Her death name was Red Plum, so she must have died in the spring. Noone here knows her, or her family, but they still put flowers on her grave. What happens to neighborhood when they loose thier jizos?
