Japanese painters often sign thier paintings with a stamp. It is not a surprise. Japanese sign business documents with a stamp as well. I like it. It adds to the painting and seens less rough than scrawling my name.. A name can look like graffiti. I’m not the only one. James Whistler, an artist I admire, often signed his work with a butterfly like a Japanese stamp.
Lately I have use my familt crest, though I make a lot of stamps.
Walls are empty, Time for me to start painting again. I wonder what the new painting year will bring?
It has been a great 3 weeks. Thanks to all who visited the studio this year.
I noticed a mistake on the invitation card. It should say -
Closed Mondays, Tuesdays, 定休日:月曜、火曜
I added a google maps link to my web site to help people find my exhibition. Then I checked the link. It leads people to the temple around the corner. No wonder Fed Ex can never find my place.
I tried the sky view and discovered that my place is the only one with a gold dragon on it, so if you come by helicopter it should be easy to find.
