Every year I have to learn how to paint again
I started this new year looking back. 11 years ago today I filled the studio with a project for an exhibition at the Nakanosawa Museum in Gunma. It was a hecktic holliday, filled with dragons.
This year has been more calm. I hope it is a fun and prosperious year for all.
The temple across the street has pine brances on each side of the gate. I’ve swept my alley and put up my dragon. Getting ready for the new year.
Shiwasu, an old name for the month, “Teacher Runs,” though I have also heard it was originally, Priests run, which seems more reasonable.
My exhibitions for 2023 are well finished. I’m playing with ideas for a new year card. Does anybody send new year cards anymore? My students surely don’t.
